What it is

I know a lot of people
We get on pretty well
I smile a lot, I think
I do a lot, life is pretty worth while

But sometimes when I’m alone in peace
Trying to read, or write, or think
There’s one thought that won’t leave my mind
Won’t give me room to think

I don’t think I’m lazy, I just can’t be arsed
Doing this thing for you
Surely I can’t the only one
Wondering what to do

When you’re wondering what it is

What it is
That makes us get up each day, or sleep the day away
What it is
That makes us care, to do a little something in our way
What it is
That makes us just accept the minutes rolling by
Some minutes in an hour, few more in a day, it’s multiply then die

And so it is
That this all is and was, and will continue to be
But I don’t know what the hell that means
What that means for me

I don’t think I’m that different
But then I sure am alone
Why do I have to be the only one
Caring what it is

What it is
That makes us care if they’re talking about you
What it is
That makes some strangers song relate to you

What it is
And was
What it is right now
What it continues to be

What it is
That lets you say what it is that I should be
Or do, or say, or sing, or see, or hear

I have to ask what gives you any right
To say what I should be

And then I wonder why I care
If you’re talking about me

What it is
That makes you give two pounds to save some other race
What it is
That makes us just accept this is where we are
This is how it is
We’re born and now we’ll die

What it is
That makes me care if you’re talking about me

What it is

What it is

    started off good.

I got a bit tried of the use of repetition on “what is it?”

Yeah I can understand that, but when I was writing it as a song it just seemed to all be right like that.

I don’t particularly like this piece much, I feel I haven’t been writing as well recently :)

Thanks for the comment, by the way!
