He told me he was leaving today

He gave that smile that let me know
That I didn’t know what he now knew
And as he told me of the news
I wasn’t particularly sad, just quiet

He told me he was leaving today
And after a while I got up the courage to say
You gotta do what we have to do, and go when it’s your time
And although I wasn’t devastated
I was quiet, in thought, all the time

He left without a fuss, with a smile
The mask we wear when we need to
So that’s three of us gone, just us two left
I’m sad, but I don’t really know why
It wasn’t great, but it’s not any easier
To have to accept
Memories are soon all that will be left

He told me he was leaving today
And after a while I got up the courage to say
You gotta do what we have to do, and go when it’s your time
And although I wasn’t devastated
I was quiet, in thought, all the time

Yeah I realised they had left today
And I finally got up the courage to say
You gotta do what we have to do, and go when it’s your time
And its about time I accepted, that it’s mine.

Something I wrote a whiley ago.

By no means finished, the verses are pretty rubbish just now!
